Maxxis are well known in motorsport circles and for pure road motorcycle tyres, but they have a relatively low profile in the adventure and dual-purpose sector. In part this is because they’ve had limited sizes available in both their Traxer tyre, with only a 21″ available for the front and the heavier weight Presa Detour.
Because the Detour is available for bigger heavier adventure bikes, we’ve decided to fit a pair to the office pool-bike, our faithful Honda 1200 CrossTourer, which undertakes a lot of two-up work so uses a lot of rear tyres especially. The Maxxis Detour isn’t a new model, but just like travelling, we can’t have an opinion until we’ve tried something! A full review is coming.
