17th – 19th September 2014

In May 2013 the Dambusters2013 Charity Motorcycle Ride was part of the extensive 70th Anniversary of the famous Dams Raid in 1943, when 617 Squadron RAF breached two of Germany’s ‘Great Dams’. UK bikers rode from RAF Scampton, wartime home of the Dambusters, to the Mohne Dam where they met up with local German bikers for joint ride out around the scenic Mohnesee itself. The Mayor, local dignitaries and German television attended a commemorative wreath laying ceremony at the Dam itself. Just under £14,000 was raised for charity.

In 2014 the same organising team are at it again! This year they are riding to Arnhem in September as part of the 70th Anniversary of Operation Market Garden, the airborne attempt to capture the bridges that marked the route into the heart of Germany.

The charity ride will start at RAF Coningsby, home of the Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight who will host a start event on 17th September 2014, and will finish with a ride into the city of Arnhem in time for the commemoration ceremonies at the famous John Frost Bridge on the 19th September 2014.image004 (2)
