LS2 have released a new top spec road/touring helmet, with an all-new composite shell and very attractive price.
Completely redesigned, with a new composite shell and fully approved to the latest ECE 22.06 standard, LS2’s Vector II replaces the popular Vector Evo and represents even more value for road-touring riders.
One of the most technically advanced helmets in the LS2 range, the Vector II gets an all-new HPFC shell (who doesn’t love an acronym – High Performance Fibreglass Composite), which, according to the marketing blurb, “offers high penetration resistance and energy dispersion” and importantly is lighter than the previous model, now weighing in at just 1350 grams. Apparently an even lighter carbon fibre option is due to follow in the future, but we don’t have a date yet.
The Vector II is available in six outer shell sizes – LS2 is the first manufacture to offer this number – which keeps the overall size to a minimum, and is aerodynamically-sculpted to keep your head stable at higher speeds. It also has a chin curtain to help keep the weather out and reduce wind noise, but please note, we haven’t yet tried one to see exactly how quiet it is.
Ventilation is provided through adjustable intake ports on forehead and chinbar, and exhaust ports on the rear, which helps maintain comfort, as does the removable and washable Magna-Tech liner. The laser-cut foam inserts and neck roll give a snug, reassuring fit, but the cheek pads are emergency quick release and the reinforced quick-release chin strap – secured with LS2’s unique Metal Security Plate – tops off the impressive internal specification.
The ultra-wide visor has a completely new ratchet system and is not only Pinlock-ready, there’s a Pinlock included in the box, which adds to the value package.
So, available in sizes XS-4XL, the LS2 Vector II comes in three solid (black, white and grey), and ten coloured graphic options. Retail prices are £179.99 in solid colours and £199.99 for graphics. To see all the graphic options and to get a list of stockists, click www.ls2helmets.com
