New 400 adventure bike from WK Bikes

WK400 Trail overland magazineWK showed a pre-production version of their new 400cc air-cooled single-cylinder adventure model at the NEC before Christmas, but the real thing will be available to test ride at The Overland Event in June from 19th – 21st.
We are really excited by its simplicity, light weight at 150kgs and rugged functionality, but also by a price tag that’s said to be around £3,500. We don’t know if that includes the alloy panniers.WK400 Trail in factory
The Chinese-built 400 clearly has roots in the tough DR350 of the 1990s, but reputedly makes a modest 27hp and 24lbft of torque. It doesn’t seem much on paper, but the steel frame, spoked wheels and air cooling are just perfect for green laning or travelling ‘the rest of the world.’

These images were recently snapped at the factory where the first main batch are being tested and readied for UK delivery.

From our recent reader survey it seems that 40% of you would prefer a machine under 600cc for an overland trip, so WK may be on to something here.

WK400 Trail on testThe proof will be in the riding of course and we can’t wait. Bring your licence to the Overland Event and you can decide for yourself amid the beautiful Chiltern Hills.TRAIL-400-FRONT
