New Dunlop Mutant tyres on show

If you are going to the MCN London Show this weekend you’ll be able to see the new Dunlop Mutant, a brand new ‘crossover’ tyre offering outstanding wet weather grip, with a nod to cool overlanding in the tread pattern. Although Dunlop were at Motorcycle Live in November, with the Trailmax and other families of travelling tyres, the Mutants weren’t available at that time.

Apparently combining the DNA from trail, supermoto, racing wets and sport touring tyres, the Dunlop MUTANT is a whole new type of tyre as it crosses over so many niches. MUTANT’s extremely evolved M+S pattern delivers a unique combination of superior cold and wet grip, sports handling and touring durability.

With over 350 recommended fitments, Mutant is available for an extensive range of bikes including popular middleweights such as the Yamaha MT07 as well as big adventure bikes like the BMW 1250GS.
Dunlop say the Mutant M+S tyres provide the kind of handling and stability you’d expect from hypersport tyres, the very best grip in wet conditions this side of racing wets, as well as the kind of durability that you would find among touring tyres. They are even supposed to have some off-road capability. Using state of the art compounds and resins Dunlop combine performance, rapid warm-up and durability to ensure rider confidence in all conditions throughout the year. We are hoping to try a pair soon and will do a comprehensive review.
