Motorcycle expedition specialists GlobeBusters, have added two new Icelandic tours to their 2016 timetable, specially designed for riders with a big sense of adventure but a small amount of time.
Both ‘The Arctic Desert’ and ‘Beyond the Wall’ tours are 12 days long, so can be easily slotted into a busy calendar, and offer a perfect opportunity to experience the country’s unique landscape and culture on two wheels.
Highlights include exploring the vibrant down-town bars and restaurants of Iceland’s capital, Reykjavik; the “Road to Hell” (the volcanic crater near Askja) and the newly formed lava field of the 2014-2015 eruption.
Riders will also visit the largest glacier in Europe, Vatnajokull, familiar to fans of Game of Thrones as “Beyond the Wall”; travel the deserted and twisty roads of Westfjords, the most remote and isolated part of Iceland, and enjoy dips in geothermally-heated pools to unwind after a day’s ride.
Included in the cost of the trip is bike freighting to and from Iceland; all customers need to do is drop their machine off at the shipping agent here in the UK, fly themselves to Reykjavik and their bike will be waiting at the hotel for them when they arrive. This avoids having a long transit time from UK to Denmark and three days on a ferry via the Faroe Islands.
Also included is bed and breakfast accommodation, various activities, a GlobeBusters Tour Leader and a specialist Icelandic guide. The group will be accompanied by a mechanic in a support vehicle. There’s also the option to hire a BMW R1200 or F800 GS, at an additional cost.
Prices start from £3,695 for the Beyond the Wall tour, which is primarily on paved roads and takes place from 20th-31st July 2016. The Arctic Desert tour takes place from 3rd-14th August 2016 and is a mix of paved and dirt roads.
