Simon and Lisa Thomas returning to Africa

Simon and Lisa Thomas have been regular contributors to Overland magazine and were among the inspiring presenters at this year’s Overland Event. In December they’ll be returning to Africa, their favourite continent, in readiness for the start of a 16-day tour through South Africa, Botswana and Zambia.

Having already spent over 14 years clocking up more than half a million miles on their 2 Ride The World adventure, Simon and Lisa Thomas are two of the most accomplished motorcycle travellers on the planet. During that time they’ve explored both the West and East of Africa, and developed a love of Southern Africa in particular.

They’ve now teamed up with Ayres Adventures and will be leading what’s billed as a ‘Club Class’ fully-supported tour from Cape Town to Victoria Falls between 19th January and 3rd February, 2019. Their route, which will be mainly on-road, features mountain passes, sweeping coastal highways, wine country and rural landscapes dotted with traditional African villages. To complete the “African experience”, the tour also includes a full day on safari in Kruger National Park, and a wildlife cruise on the stunning Chobe River.

Talking about their plans, Simon said, “The world can be a scary place, but when explored with the right group it can also be full of wonder. Our new Africa tour will allow our riders to experience one of the most remarkable continents on Earth, where incredible ‘life-experiences’ are a daily occurrence. The rider’s are going to be blown away.”

At the time of writing there are only six places remaining on the tour, which costs US$9,900 per rider and US$6,950 for a pillion.
