The New Zealand luggage manufacturer, Ventura, have just released their new Evo-12 Slipstreamer rack pack. It’s a bag that holds, like the name suggests, 12-litres of kit, so is ideal for an overnight stay or daily commute. The Evo-60 is that bit bigger for weekends away or to supplement panniers.
Made using a water resistant and durable laminated ballistic fabric, there is a wide zip opening to improve access for larger items, and the zip can be easily operated with a gloved hand. What’s special about the Slipstreamer and other packs in the series, is the sleeve-fitting system, and that doesn’t mean you wear it on your arm. The pack simply slides over the Evo Rack and attaches with quick release buckles, which allows fast fitting and removal, with no fiddly straps or bungee cords.
The rack system combines the best features of hard and soft luggage, using discreet L-shaped brackets that are bike-specific and bolt straight on, into which slots a standard Ventura Evo rack. This is what the various bags slip on to.
Ventura have now added Yamaha’s Ténéré 700 to their fitment list, giving owners the option to carry up to 60-litres of kit without compromising width or stability.
Ventura’s Evo Bike Pack System is ideal for middleweight adventure sport bikes, since it’s lightweight and compact; won’t get in the way when tackling tight trails and filtering through traffic, (like panniers can); and is much more stable than soft luggage. There’s a large integrated carry handle for easy carrying off the bike and reflective piping, for extra visibility in low light.
L-Brackets and Evo Rack for the Ténéré 700 cost £236. The 60-litre Evo-60 Jet Stream pack (pictured below) sells for £199. The Evo-12 Slipstreamer retails for £79.99 ventura-bike.co.uk
