X-Cape upgrade; the 700 is here

The revamped Moto Morini X-Cape 700 has arrived. This adventurous Italian all-rounder combines a more powerful parallel-twin engine with advanced electronic features, improved ergonomics and eye-catching extras. With a starting price of just £6.799 (plus OTR), the X-Cape 700 offers really financially accessible adventure.

The biggest upgrade lies beneath the 18 litre fuel tank: the Moto Morini X-Cape 700 features a brand-new 693cc water-cooled parallel-twin engine. It delivers 71 hp and 68 Nm – a significant increase over the previous 650 version. Apparently it’s smooth, linear power, with a strong mid-range and excellent low-speed control. This makes the X-Cape a reliable companion for mountain passes as well as daily rides, but at 213kg ‘dry’ it’s not the lightest machine in this middleweight class.

Seat height is 820mm (or 845mm) and the wheels, either cast or spoked, are the more road-biased 19”/17” front /rear, shod with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres. Suspension travel at the front from the adjustable Marzocchi forks is 175mm, while the Kayaba rear shock provides a max movement of 165mm.

The X-Cape 700 has no shortage of the features you would normally expect, like Off-road mode and switchable ABS, 7 ” TFT display with tyre pressure monitoring and even handguards, but it even has something many charge more for; a centre stand! The raised exhaust design allows room for it to be fitted.
The X-Cape 700 is also equipped with a completely new, height-adjustable screen that offers optimal wind protection for every rider. The styling remains distinctively Italian, with the characteristic ‘X’ motif in the fairings and sharp lines that radiate power.

Despite its upgrades in power, equipment and ride quality, the Moto Morini X-Cape 700 remains sharply priced, starting at £6.799.
Motorrad Magazine in Germany, who have had a chance to ride one, say “The new X-Cape 700 takes the price-performance ratio to the next level. It looks like a premium adventure bike, yet offers the ease of use and price of a midrange machine. The ideal choice for riders who want adventure, comfort and character in one motorcycle.”
